The Neighbourhood Effect

By a unanimous vote, Belgium home affairs committee endorsed the elimination of (niqab) the full veil worn by Muslim women from the public sphere. Would such have a neighbourhood effect across Europe? Does European Muslim women have right whatsoever to deciding their attires?

Are European Muslims Democratic Enough to Practice Their Fate

European news headlines saw more of Muslim related issue as aftermath of series of attacks on European mainland. Attacks that were shouldered on the growing Muslim community. The reaction to the attacks was the re-emergence of Nationalist, Rightist and Conservative parties across Europe demanding a complete assimilation and integration from their Muslim community.

More recently the issue of burka (niqab) a full-face covering attire worn by Muslim women now faces serious condemnation and attack from European policy makers. This obviously puts European Muslim women in a serious dilemma of either to compromise one among their religious fundamentals or dance to the turn of the public and the parliament across Europe.

If democratic principle is the right to choice, choosing one's faith, practicing one's ideology without affecting others, hence what legitimacy does few parliaments across European have in demanding insignificant Muslim women in Europe wearing the burka to discard one of their religious convictions?
